The Greene County Ram girls basketball team lost its season opener to PCM in Monroe Nov. 25 by a 68-35 score. The PCM Mustangs are ranked 12th in class 3A in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union preseason poll.
The Rams were up 11-10 after the first quarter and were still ahead 15-14 when the Mustangs scored 18 unanswered points. The Mustangs dominated the rest of the game.
Senior Kayla Mobley scored 21 of the Rams’ 35 points. No other Ram scored more than five points. Turnovers were problematic for the Rams, with 21 in the first half and another 17 in the second half. The Rams were 15 for 35 in field goal shots, but one for one on 3-point attempts. The Rams were four of seven at the free throw line.
PCM was led in scoring by senior Rachel Freland with 24 points.
The Rams are 0-1 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference and 0-1 overall.
